Matthew 10:6-7 (NIV) Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this
message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'
Have you ever felt the call of God upon your life? How about upon your year, month, week, etc. If you have, did you respond like I recently did? "I don't have time. I really don't want to. I don't like being uncomfortable. I've already served on mission trips."
Any of this sound familiar? Every one of these excuses passed my lips. Have you sung this song a few times when you sensed God was trying to get you to step outside your comfort zone? Yeah, me too.
But, I have found that God will keep asking. He continues to convict me and nudge me until I finally recognize what is happening. Years ago, before my very first mission trip to Honduras, I told God I had nothing to offer anyone. I was convinced that my abilities were limited to what I knew, my education, my gifts and skills. Then someone shared with me these words, "God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called."
Yup, that wiped away all my excuses.

God Called, Abram Trusted - Will we?
"Go...I will bless you...Abram went..." (Genesis 12:1,2,4)
There have been times in my life when I have felt the call of God. Sometimes a call to go...and sometimes the call was to act. But whatever the call, I learned I needed to put my trust to the test. First, do I trust it is God calling. Do I know God well enough to recognize his voice, His call?
When God called upon Abram to "Go", to leave his country and his people and travel to a new and different land, a place he had never been before - Abram obeyed. He did it, he packed up everything and everyone he loved and set out on a journey of a lifetime.
Imagine the adventure he would have missed out on had he ignored the call. Think of the different life he would have experienced if he had stayed put, remained in the comfortable place God found him.
Now think about you, your life. Has God ever placed a call on your life to move across county or even the just the state. Did you recognize God's voice when you first felt the winds of change blowing? Did you pray and ask God to confirm his plans for you; to repeat what He wanted you to do? That's okay you know. God will tell you again, or He will use someone else to confirm what you are hearing.
Are you sensing a change right now? Is there something God is whispering in your spirit? Is there something new and challenging and life-changing on the horizon. Pray, read God's Word, and talk it out with a trusted friend. God will make himself known to you when you put your trust in Him.
I might still be living in the north woods of WI if I had not listened to God when he told me my time in seclusion was at an end. This was a process, and if you were to peek at my journal entries during the month of March 2012, you could follow me right back to Ohio. The rest is history.
