Here today...

True: You can't take it with you.

False: The more you have the happier you will be.
Psalm 49:18-19 (MSG)
Just when they think they've arrived and folks praise them because they've made good, they enter the family burial plot where they'll never see sunshine again.

True: Having enough to pay the bills is a good thing.

False: When judment day arrives we need to be able to proclaim that we were successful in business.
Psalm 49:16-17 (MSG)
So don't be impressed with those who get rich and pile up fame and fortune. They can't take it with them; fame and fortune all get left behind.

True: We aren't going to live forever.

False: It is vital that we line our bank accounts and not worry about lost opportunity with family. There will be plenty of time for that once we retire.
Psalm 49:20 (MSG)
We aren't immortal. We don't last long. Like our dogs, we age and weaken. And die.

Psalm 49:16-20

Together we Worship

John 4:19-24
“I who speak to you am he.”

Can you imagine floundering through life, (as we do) experiencing one failed relationship after another, and being outcast by your community yet still having the ultimate privilege of meeting Jesus in person?

We have heard the story of the woman at the well, how Jesus acknowledged her lifestyle, and likely blew her away with his tender compassion and supernatural insight. He shared with this nameless woman what he wants us all to understand.

John 4:23-24 “Yet the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the father seeks. God is spirit and his worshipers must worship in spirit and truth.”

What is worshiping in spirit and truth? View this website for an explanation:

We are called by God to gather and worship him, for there is strength in numbers, and the relational God he is, knows that being in community is what bonds our hearts to his and to each other.

As the song taken from Matthew 18 goes: "For wherever two or more of you are gathered in his name, there is love."  God is the spirit of love and truth.

Matthew 18:20 (NIV)  “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”
