1 Corinthians 12:1-6

When selecting presents for my family members, I discover I am looking for different types of gifts.  One daughter loves to paint, draw and sing.  The other would spend her spare time reading a good book, writing a poem or Bible study or strumming her guitar.  When they have birthdays, I often will try to find a gift that is best suited to their likes and passions.

That fact that they are different in this respect has nothing to do with one being better than the other; they are different, plain and simple.  I find their likes and skills will complement each other enabling them to enjoy one another's company.  The guitar player and the singer will go off together and have a good time.  They also use these gifts to give God glory.

We are divided so we can be united.  This is a note I found in the margin of my Bible.  I remember when studying this passage before, that comment struck me as significant.  "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work." (1 Corinthians 12:1-6)

God has given each believer Spiritual Gifts.  We are not given the same gifts. A gift I might have will complement a gift you have so that working together we might accomplish more and create an exciting fellowship and build Christ's church.  Do you know what Spiritual Gift God has given you?  Won't you share with us?
