About five years ago I led a high school youth group on a Mission trip to Mexico. Mission trips were common for me but this one was the first where I lead without a mission company. It was my sole responsibility to organize not only the worship and devotion time, which was where I was gifted but also the lodging, food, purchasing construction material, and leading the construction itself.
To say I was in over my head is to put it lightly. I was not gifted to pull this trip off, yet I was exactly where God wanted me. In the months prior to the trip God sent me one adult after another with the gifts to do each job needed to successfully help build an addition onto the orphanage in Mexico.
It was truly amazing being a part of something so clearly controlled by God. Our passage today says, “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they all come from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve the same Lord, and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do.”
Yes we all have different things we are good at, but it’s when we work through the Spirit of God that miracles happen. That is what separates us from the local community center. When we go out in the name of Jesus, God supernaturally uses the gifts he gives us to reach the lost. What an absolute honor. What gifts do you have that God is just waiting to use?
