Grace Abounds 1 Corinthians 12:21-26

Back in our youth ministry days, Steve and I had a code we would use indicating students in our ministry who didn’t quite click with us, but who we knew needed to feel welcome and loved. We would call these students EGR which stood for, extra grace required. We truly were not trying to be mean; this was just our way of letting each other to know when we struggled with a student.

Why was this important? Steve and I learned long ago that God has called us all and saved us each through His sacrifice on the cross. None of us are more important than the other, but there are some who rub us the wrong way.

Our scripture passage today says, “God put our bodies together in such a way that even the parts that seem the least important are valuable. He did this to make all parts of the body work together smoothly, with each part caring about the others.”

We all need each other to make the family of God complete. It’s important for us to see the strengths that each bring, and try and see those we struggle with the way God does, and let’s face it we are probably someone else’s EGR.
