Acts 16:16-40

The Scripture selection today is telling of Paul and Silas's severe beating and imprisonment, but it is also a testimony to the joy only a Christian will ever have  Here is an example of that joy--even when experiencing difficult situations. Have you known this joy?

After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. (Acts 16:23,25)

Following is an instance of the joy new believers experience.  Have you felt this joy?

The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household. (Acts 16:34)

I am singing a song in my head right now called "Such Joy" by Marty Nystrom.  Won't you join me?

"Such joy, such unspeakable joy,
Such peace, an everlasting peace
Such love, a pure and holy love
Spirit have your way in me."

Can't you just hear these words, or ones similar, lifted up by Paul and Silas?
