Acts 5:12-42

There is something fascinating going on in the early Christian church.  We have been reading the first few chapters of the book of Acts and it is obvious to me this community truly understands togetherness.  They get what it means to care for each other, to carry one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2).  What do you suppose your church would look and feel like if it practiced the same things the first followers of Christ did?

Just imagine for a moment belonging to a Christian community where love abounded, where care was central and where hope reigned.  Wow! As the old song goes, "wouldn't it be loverly?".  Someday life will be like this everywhere, someday, after Christ returns to rule the earth.  But, for a brief time, churches did behave in this manner.  Then, persecution set in, and the same people who persecuted and killed Jesus started to disrupt things again, trying to halt the spread of Christianity.

The bad news is, life will never be perfect, and people will never love one another flawlessly until Jesus returns.  The Good News is Jesus will return.   AMEN.

"Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah." (Acts 5:42)
