Acts 20:1-12

Encouragement is something we all need in big doses.  Encouragement is a spiritual gift; is it one you possess?  People with this gift are a true gift to those of us who cross their path.  A kind word of assurance or inspiration goes a long way some days.  It can make the difference between having a good day or not.

Paul had the gift of encouragement, as he spent much of his time helping the new believers, reinforcing the faith and work being accomplished in the churches he helped to start.  He would praise their efforts, cheering them on while the same time teaching them when they needed more instruction.

When Paul came to town he was probably sought out for advise and perhaps even for a brainstorming session or two.  Studying the book of Acts brings to light just how much Paul did to promote The Way everywhere he went.

When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples and, after encouraging them, said goodbye and set out for Macedonia. He traveled through that area, speaking many words of encouragement to the people, and finally arrived in Greece, where he stayed three months. (Acts 20:1-3)

Who has encouraged you lately on your walk?  Is there someone you can give an atta' boy today?  It could make a big difference in their day.  I am going to try it.
