Acts 1:12-19

"Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk from the city. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers." (Acts 1:12,14)

As someone who has learned the value of prayer and as one who loves to spend time praying, especially in the company of others who feel the same, I have to comment here.  Can you imagine what it would be like to be praying with Mary, the mother of Jesus?  Can you here her words lifted up to her son?  What do you think those time were prayers were like?

I can almost see the scene in my mind’s eye now.  Jesus’s disciples and some other followers, the women who were always in the picture during His life and then His mother, Mary and they are praying to Jesus; her boy.   This must have been a difficult time, they were still mourning His death.

This practice is a witness to the way to move forward with life, to heal and to find hope.   When I read "They all joined together constantly in prayer..."  Isn't this exactly what Jesus expects of us now?  Isn't praying constantly just a life that lives every moment in a relationship with Him, hour by hour, day by day.  When I pray this week I am going hold the vision in my head of praying in the company of Jesus' followers and His mother.
