John 8: 28036

Sin…feel bad…ask forgiveness…sin…feel bad…ask forgiveness…sin…feel bad…ask forgiveness…sin…feel bad…ask forgiveness…sin…feel bad…ask forgiveness… sin…

It’s a chain. It links to itself and continues on and on. If you look closely, you will see that it is cold, hard, impenetrable steel, essential to nothing but itself. Connected to and enslaved by each individual link, the chain holds strong as the pattern continues. How deep is the heart’s longing for forgiveness? God knows.

John 8:31-34 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves to anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” Jesus is the only one who walked this earth without sin. We are ALL sinners, and in constant challenge to break free. If we fall into this acceptable pattern, nothing will change. If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got. Sin may be inevitable because of our human nature, yet the condition of our heart and the effort we put into being more like Christ is what’s important. Break the chain with sincere intentions, and even if you have to do it again and again, the Lord will have your back.
