Joshua 13:14-33

When we find ourselves in the midst of a battle it is wise to be armed and ready.  When we face the enemy of this world we need all the armor we can don to protect us so we might claim victory over the enemy.  I never grasped the book of Joshua with open eyes before.  I did not realize that many of the battles were fought after they crossed over into the Promised Land.  When they finally arrived, they still had lots to do before they could claim total victory.

This reality puts my life today into a different perspective.  I know many new believers think that their life should be easy.  They feel that once they have embraced Jesus everything settles down and they can begin to coast. If anything, life becomes more of a challenge. Even though we have finally arrived, the battle is not over.

Joshua 13:14 (NIV)
But to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance, since the offerings made by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as he promised them.

Is it surprising the Levites did not receive an inheritance?  It is said they had already received their legacy, they had God.  He had given himself to them, the greatest inheritance.  God is our birthright too.  As Believers we are children of God and as His children we have the inheritance of the King.

Each day, prepare for battle and "Put on the full armor of God so you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." (Ephesians 6:11)  Our inheritance is waiting for us.
