Joshua 5:10-12

Joshua 5:10-12 (NIV)
"On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover.

The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain.

The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan."

These three lines are a testimony to God's faithfulness and love and also to His perfect timing.  The men had just been circumcised, so they were able to participate in the celebration.  They were in the Promised Land at just the right time for the first observance in their new home.

Manna, which God graciously supplied every day, was no longer needed.  The land was ripe and ready to plant and harvest.  The new bounty from the rich land was theirs to enjoy. God provides for the needs of His people always.

With this in mind, I am starting today, counting my blessings.  Like the song says, "Count your blessings name them one by one. The verses to that old song, which is based on Proverbs 10:6 (Blessings crown the head of the righteous,") are meaningful and true, but this one struck me this day.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

God provided the Israelites His help and comfort until their journey's end.  He will do the same for you and for me. Count your blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
