Genesis 9 God's Covenant with Noah

Genesis  9 contains insight as to God's ultimate plan, information; some of which we may prefer not to know, incredible messages for our lives today, and hope. He always leaves us with the hope of a future, as we are reminded in Jeremiah 29:11.

Once on dry land, God blessed Noah and his sons. God told them that everything that lived and moved was to be their food, not just plants, he specified EVERYTHING. Genesis 9:4 "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man too. I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man....." Was this perhaps the beginning of the Ten Commandments?  God directed them to be fruitful and multiply. He promised them that never again would floods destroy the earth, and he spoke of setting a rainbow in the clouds as a sign of the covenant between the Lord and all life on earth. Later in Genesis 9, the story of Noah drinking wine from the vineyard, becoming drunk and doing some foolish things was revealed. Perhaps this is to remind us that even the most righteous man can falter. It takes but a few moments to lose sight of our purpose in Him. Apparently Noah got things straight with the Lord, as he lived 350 years after the flood according to the bible. We do not have that long.

The rainbow was a covenant, a promise.
