Joshua 21:43-45

It isn't easy to place your troubles into someone else's hands, to let go of the worry and to stop controlling a difficult situation.  Somehow it feels comforting when we can keep in the middle of a bad situation, if we can act like we have it all taken care of.  But reality will slap us in the face at times.  There are circumstances when we have to step back and let the professionals take over.

When there is an illness or injury requiring an expert's attention we have to step back and trust that everything will come out right.  We wouldn't know where to begin if brain surgery were required.  We would be powerless to cure an infectious disease without proper intervention.  That is how it is.  But, as Christians we have the ability to call upon a power greater than ourselves.  The power of faith and the power of prayer are the only power tools we need.

One of the most difficult things to do is to do nothing but pray and believe.  When writing these pieces each day I often feel like a hypocrite because I don't put into practice the very things I write about.  My struggles are the same as yours and I too must remind myself daily that, "I can't, God can, I'll let Him."

It took many, many years of wandering through the desert before the Israelites were able to claim their birth-rite, the Promised Land. We often find it will take years to arrive at our destination, or it could happen in the twinkling of an eye.  It is all up to God, the One who has it all in the palm of His hand.  He is the one whose promises we can cling to and whose love will last forever.

God's chosen people could attest to God's faithfulness, for "Not one word failed from all the good words God spoke to the house of Israel. Everything came out right."
