1 Samuel 2:1-11 - Hannah's Song

This verse is the picture of joy, pure and bursting at the seams joy. Hannah had been praying for God to bless her with a child, and she just learned that she was expecting. She realized God answered her prayer and she was shouting of her happiness from the rooftops. Ever been there, ever done that?

1 Samuel 2:1 (MSG)
“Hannah prayed: I'm bursting with God-news! I'm walking on air. I'm laughing at my rivals. I'm dancing my salvation.”

Perhaps we have not experienced answered prayer so big that it has caused us to dance and sing. Perhaps we have not asked and prayed for anything as big and amazing as this. Perhaps we have not because we ask not. “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” (John 16:24)

God can do so much more than we ever ask for. He longs to hear from us, to see us on our knees in worship and in prayer. He wants to give us the desire of our hearts; but we have to ask Him. The exciting part of this is His answer. We may not recognize it right away, because our words were limiting God, they were keeping Him in this neat little box. Our mind cannot fathom just how limitless our prayers can be. We can ask for the moon and expect God to respond.

But be prepared…His answer will have you wondering just what it was that you asked for. Let’s pray today to God to show up in a great big way and then let us be expecting an answer, but be prepared to be amazed.
