Why is power so often accompanied by ugliness?  This journey we are taking through “The Story” reveals that king after king “provoked the Lord, the God of Israel to anger by their worthless idols.” and “did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him.”  It appears each new ruler was worse than the one before. That must have been incredibly frustrating for God to watch, especially considering He was instructing them all along. Hmmm, I wonder what He thinks of the condition of the world today, and how He feels about the powers that be. It is very concerning when God is not present in the lives of those in command. We need to pray HARD and deliberately for each other, and Godly leadership if we want our world to be mended. We cannot do it without Him.

My prayer today is in the form of a poem.
Dear Lord;
Where would I be without you in my life
To help see me through all the sorrow and strife
How could I run in this cold earthly race
Without your forgiveness, and mercy and grace
This world has grown callus, and hearts have gone cold
Our men are too weak and our children too bold
Each one of us made in your image it’s true
Then why do so many forget about you
Is it the pressure of fortune and fame
That cause us to put aside your holy name
Is it desire for wealth and for pleasure
That leads us away from our heavenly treasure
Maybe it’s fear of just being alone
And all of the questions surrounding the throne
Perhaps we’re avoiding the hurt and the shame
That comes to so many who honor your name
Lord help see us through all the chaos and sin
Hold on to our hearts as we try once again
To help the world know of your truth and your plan
To love and protect each and every man
Your power is mighty, your mercy is vast
Your love so enduring, it always will last
Lord let me be humble and wise in my ways
To serve You and others, for all of my days
Inspire our leaders to walk in your path
And guide this great nation away from your wrath
Please grant us the peace we so long to embrace
Til the day we are honored to stand in your grace
Amen
