The Story - Chapter 16 - 2 Kings 19

We are reminded so very often when reading and studying the Bible, not to be afraid.  Fear not is a command written time and again.  “Be anxious about nothing but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Sounds simple enough, but you and I all know it is very difficult.  It requires amazing trust to do this without hesitation.  It takes remarkable faith to put all efforts into moving forward, trusting God to do what only God can do---miracles.

I have mentioned numerous times how keeping a journal has helped me to keep my head on straight during difficult times.  Now, don’t shut down on me if you are one who just is not wired to write in a book every day; I do have a point that even non-journalers will get.  The entries in my journal often reflect my fears and anxious moments.  The words I write are words I don’t often feel at the time, but by writing those out, I can process my predicament.

If you haven’t guessed yet, I am a bit of an introvert. Introverts do not process verbally, many of us write.  If you dislike making notes on paper on a regular basis, perhaps you are an extrovert and are able to voice your fears and feelings to others.  Once you have said it out loud, things begin to make sense to you. For me, when I look back over the words I can see a faith that is growing because of the faithfulness of the God I serve and things make sense to me.

 2 Kings 19:32-34 (NIV)
"Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the king of Assyria: "He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow here. He will not come before it with shield or build a siege ramp against it.  By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city, declares the LORD.  I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant."

And it came to pass.
