The Story - Chapter 16 - Isaiah 3, 6

It isn't wise to disregard warnings. Signs that read, "Danger, thin ice," are to be heeded. The words, "Bridge Out Ahead," serve as warning that you could get seriously hurt if you continue on the path you are on. The people are being warned.

Isaiah 3:1 (NIV)
"See now, the Lord, the LORD Almighty, is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support: all supplies of food and all supplies of water,..."
God sent prophets to His people for a reason, not to take away all their fun but to show them their lifestyle was not pleasing, was not proper and would be their downfall. There is a sense of urgency here that the people do not comprehend. Most likely, they, like us, have become immune to shame. Their perspective of living was hardened to right and wrong. The people had a, "If it feels good, do it," kind of outlook on life. It WAS all about them. Sound familiar?

I am not pointing fingers at you; I am speaking of myself as well. I wonder when was the last time I stopped to ask myself what my motives were. I trudge through each day trying to make time pass in the most comfortable and self-serving way possible. My thought to bless you with my actions only happen when I am included in that blessing. Make sense?

Isaiah speaks to us today as well as to the Israelite nation those many years ago. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
