Recall when you were a child, how much fun it was to sit around and listen to stories your grandparents or maybe your great-grandparents told. The stories of family travels, perhaps some stories of ancestors coming to America from the old country.
While these fascinating stories were always a hit, think about how much you enjoyed hearing about the day you were born. Remember for a moment how you loved to hear how much you were anticipated; how happy everyone was that you had finally arrived.
Luke 2:7 (NASB)
"And she gave
birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a
manger..."
This is exciting in oh so many ways. For weeks now, we have been talking about The Upper Story and Lower Story. God's perfect plan has been laid out in the Upper Story. We have been witness to creation, the flood, the great exodus; all the while getting a better understanding of God's plan. He wants us to be with Him forever.
We have been on the sidelines; reading and learning while seeing the big picture unfold as we begin to understand how loving and forgiving, but just and jealous, our One True God is. God has been in the Upper Story, He is the Upper Story. Now, God comes into the Lower Story and a great adventure begins.
