Elizabeth's words below echo my thoughts some days. When I sit down first thing in the morning and open my journal and a devotional I am using, I often ask God to show me His Word for me that day. Sometimes I preface these words with a few paragraphs of laying my heart open for God.
Luke 1:43 (NIV)
"But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
When I ask Him to show me a glimpse of hope, a touch of joy I am taken aback by how quickly and certainly He responds. My attempts to convince God to show Himself to me are never disappointed. In fact I am often caught breathless by just how fully He made Himself known to me at that moment.
These are difficult times we live in, trying times for our finances, our children and our marriages. There is danger and illness, broken trusts and ruthless perversion all around. It doesn't make any sense to consider beginning my day any other way than in the presence of God. Then, like Elizabeth, we to will ask, "Why am I so favored...?"
