Acts 16:5 (NIV)
So the
churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.
What is your passion and mission in life? Do you crave the company of others, especially young people? Do you feel God calling you to care for the elderly, the underprivileged? Do you get up every morning excited about your work?
For those of us who do, life is very good and each morning a fresh new opportunity to be happy. As Christians, we have special gifts, certain passions for life. Some of us thrive when we are working with our hands or outside in the garden. Others can't wait to get to our jobs each morning.
When we find ourselves living like this, knowing we are just where God wants us to be, joy abounds. When we realize the gift, the blessing we have because we are able to work in areas that give us great satisfaction, we can thank God. Many of us worked in jobs we did not enjoy for many years before a door opened and we walked through it. These things don't happen overnight and often we must work our way into them. Generally, they are not the highest paying jobs, but they are the most rewarding. The trade-off is worth it.
If we have been following along in The Story or our Bible, we know that being a missionary was not on Paul's to-do list. Quite the opposite, but once the Holy Spirit got Paul's attention his reason for living changed. Has that happened to you? I know that for me, everything changed once I gave in to God's prompting and accepted His way as the best way. But, this is a life-long process, a journey that begins once we discover all that God has in store for us. Following a dream is not a waste of time, but a reason to get up in the morning.
