I love the wording in The Message Bible for verse 26. Peter is quoting from David in the Psalms, sharing the wonderful feeling a Christian experiences once they come to the full realization of Jesus Christ and all He has done for us.
Acts 2:26 (MSG) "I'm glad
from the inside out, ecstatic; I've pitched my tent in the
land of hope."
The land of hope is a place we can go in our mind, where we can live, confident in salvation. We can know for certain that hell has no hold on us. We will still experience tough times, we will still have struggles that take our breath away, but we know the end of our story. No matter the struggle, there is always hope for us.
I love the phase, "I've pitched my tent in the land of hope." I love camping and the idea of pitching a tent is a fun thought. There must be a campfire if there is a tent in the picture. There is likely to be an evening under the stars, wonderful smells of wood burning and sweet aroma of pine trees. Besides the smells there are the sounds of birds, crackling fires and campfire songs. When I pitch my tent in the land of hope I am settling in for the long haul.
When I live in the land of hope I am excited to get up each morning, I look forward to emerging from my tent to begin another day of gladness. The great thing about living with this type of attitude is that when storms come and douse the campfire there is no reason to take down the tent. Just clean up the mess, wait for the storm to pass, and build another fire.
