Ephesians 5:33 (NIV)
However,
each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must
respect her husband.
I have been watching Vacation Bible School closings this week, one of my favorite things to do this time of year. With grace being the topic I have been on the lookout for instances of grace in the daily skits. Each day the message is an example of giving grace to one another; of loving one another unconditionally.
All of our relationships--whether at home in our marriage, at work with our peers, or at play with our friends--require grace. Grace is forgiving, overlooking, and giving the benefit of the doubt to everyone we encounter. I need to assume your words were meant to help me not knock me down. By following Jesus example in Scripture I have learned to nurture relationships, and not look for the negative.
A positive attitude can put a damper on anyone's attempt to sabotage a sweet moment. There is any number of instances in each day where we have a choice to make--be gracious or not. Respond curtly or smile sweetly and move on. Life is so much better when lived in harmony. Turmoil and drama take its toll on our health. Grace gives meaning to living a fruitful life, one that impacts the world for Jesus.
“Do not waste time bothering whether you “love” your neighbor; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone you will presently come to love him.” C.S. Lewis
