Isaiah 55:6 (NIV) Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
The LORD isn't going anywhere, but we are called to seek Him out, to go to Him when we feel His presence. When our world is falling apart it is time to reach out and grab hold of Him who can make the difference today. We are to seek Him while we can, before sin erects a barrier between us. God isn't going anywhere, but if our hearts aren't ready and He decides our life is over it will be too late.
Isaiah 55 is filled with many jewels, rich, shiny, brilliant gems that fill our hearts with wonderful visions of a great and mighty God. For those of you who regularly go to this book for direction, your Bible might have lots of notes in the margins, dates placed along with a comment or two depicting a time when God used this Book to speak to your heart.
Verses 8 and 9 will be familiar to many of us. I remember a time in Honduras while on a short term mission trip when these words comforted heart-broken men and women who experienced the loss of a patient who we were certain God sent us to save. "For my
thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my
ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher
than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts."
God's Word is not empty, it will fill you every day, every time you turn to it for a WORD, you will get all that and more.
