Get Ready For The Delivery!

Today we have a Guest writer posting to Daily Bible Blast, Amy Ingland Steward. Amy and I met through Proverbs 31 Ministry writers group. She often writes of her recovery journey as she gives praise to God for His grace and faithfulness.

Delivered I have heard this story of God’s deliverance many times. Peter was in prison and an angel came and set him free. As a child it was fascinating to think of an angel coming to the rescue! However, as a grown-up who has struggled with my own physical and spiritual chains of food and alcohol addiction, Acts 12 took on a whole new meaning.

Chained and Drained  We see Peter in chains, imprisoned, all of his freedom is lost. I have seen many believers that who have fallen into this pit. Believers who have let their stronghold and chains get the better of them until they no longer have the strength or the will to go on. I am not implying that it was Peter’s fault he was in prison! On the contrary! He was doing what God had asked Him to do. He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I have been there and have the T-shirt!

While rereading, one thing jumped out at me, Peter was asleep in his chains. His body was so weary from this stronghold, that he was able to sleep. Maybe he had become used to the chains and was able to be “comfortable”? What a revelation that was to me! We can become so comfortable with ourselves, with our strongholds, our chains, that we don’t even know when God is trying to set us free.

Food For Thought: Is God shining a light on an area that you may be struggling with? It may not be a physical addiction, it could be a lie the enemy has planted in your mind, or maybe an attitude that is not pleasing to God. What is it that is keeping you imprisoned and from sharing the love of God with others? If God is moving you to be free, WAKE UP and let Him lead you.
The way may be dark and frightening, but He will always send support, just like He sent the angel for Peter.

Thanks for Letting Me Share
