The above verses are from today’s reading, John10:22-39.
My mother lives out of state and I visit her
perhaps monthly to see how she is doing. She often comments how things have
changed. When she was younger, dishwashers and garage door openers made their
debut. Recent technological advances have brought her mobile phones and the
internet.
Technology isn’t the only thing that has changed.
Societal norms have changed significantly and there is a general breakdown of
the American Family. Our culture is as anti-Christian as I can remember.
Some of these changes take burdens away from
people. However, unfortunately, many of these changes are probably not what God
intended. It can be very disconcerting, yet I find a lot of solace in the above
verses.
Jesus knows me, and like a shepherd he looks after
me. I often times get wrapped up in the minutia of the world and of the minute,
causing me unnecessary stress. Jesus keeps
his eye on the bigger picture for me. No matter what happens here on earth, he
will give me eternal life with him.
I know Jesus and he knows me, but there are others
trying to “know” me.
Satan desires my soul and wants to “know” me. He
and his minions are fighting for me. Fortunately, as Jesus said, “no one can
snatch them out of my hand.”
Yes, Satan can at times make my life miserable.
But really, his actions are merely bumps on the road to heaven.
Jesus is my shepherd, he gives me eternal life and
he keeps me free from Satan.
Jesus has my back!
