Friday - Life on Mission - Grow

Philippians 1:3-4 (MSG)
Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God.  Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart.

When did you first learn the value of prayer and practice this discipline faithfully? Personally, I recall a season when I wondered what life was all about, asking, was it worth it to keep going like this? Surely there had to be more to every day living than this empty existence.

I cannot pinpoint the trigger, nor tell you who was influential in jogging my prayer life into being, but can only point to the Holy Spirit. I cried out and the Spirit directed me.

I stumbled upon a book on prayer by Richard Foster and I began a journey of healing which has shaped me today. I began to try some of the suggestions for prayer, asking for things I needed or direction to be taken. Little by little life started to change. I found clarity and love as I got bolder in my prayers. I learned how to reach out and ask Christian women for direction.

Prayer was the beginning of Spiritual growth for me. What started it all for you? Or, are you wondering how to get off the starting blocks?
