Matthew
4:12-17
In Isiah 9:2
we read; The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those
living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
In Matthew
4: 16 we read; The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those
living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
The prophesy
in Isaiah of the Old Testament came true in Matthew of the New Testament. It
was all about the birth of Jesus, who he was, and what he was here to do. He was the light that had dawned!
The
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The main
theme of the Book of Matthew is the Kingdom of God. The reason Jesus came to this world was
to “save his people from their sins” Matthew 1:21, and offer them the
opportunity to live with God forever, after this life.
As Christmas
nears, our hearts soften when we remember this innocent child born in a manger.
As he grew older and matured, try to imagine the pressure and responsibility he
must have felt. He had come to save THE WORLD. That’s intense!
Matthew
4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of
heaven is near.”
The son
reflected the Father. It is now our charge to reflect the Son.
What an
honor!
