We are to Love Others

1 John 4:7-19

How can we do this when others are un-lovely?

Jesus demonstrated a love so universal that it penetrated and toppled long-held cultural divisions, bigotry, racism and class warfare. He sought out the marginalized, the outcast, the poor, and sinful. Jesus transformed the world with His love. As believers, we are called to do the same.

Solomon wrote warm blanket words “love covers a multitude of sins,” Proverbs 10:20

Peter wrote again with prioritized words, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sin.” 1 Peter 4:8

Paul wrote the eloquent and measurable “if you have not love letter” to the Corinthians.

In our personal relationships, we show love in our forgiveness of others. One of love’s characteristics is that “it keeps no record of wrongs, no list of how often it has been offended.” 1 Corinthians 13:5

Love, (not law) is the only justice capable of forgiveness and reconciliation.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Where do we go, and to whom do we go when our ability to love and forgive has egocentric boundaries?   ---  Haunt the place called Calvary.
