Read: Psalm 40:1-5 Amplified Version
In the late summer of
2010, a Chilean mine collapsed near San Jose, trapping 33 miners 2,300 feet
below ground. For 2 months, these miners
were kept alive through funneling oxygen, food, water, and supplies down to
them through a narrow tube, while the rescuers diligently worked to dig them
out.
On day 69, family members and friends, many of whom camped nearby for months,
slowly let their cautious optimism become JOY as they were reunited with their
loved ones who were lifted out of the collapsed mine. All 33 miners were rescued.
Do you have stories like
this from your own life? Times when you
felt trapped, hopeless, helpless and there seemed like no way out? I know I have.
So did the Psalm writer,
King David.
During those times when
we are in the slimy pit, feeling overwhelmed by the mud and mire of our
circumstance, David invites us to follow his lead.
-
Cry out to the Lord and know
He will hear you. Wait patiently while
the Lord works on your behalf.
-
Know that whatever the
circumstance, God has a plan of deliverance.
-
Ask Him to put of song
of praise in your mouth!
-
Know that your story of
transformation will cause others to see the Lord’s goodness and put their trust
in Him.
Having been through a
messy, shame filled past, it was not always easy to see the light at the end of
the tunnel. Looking back now, I can see
how God orchestrated different events and placed just the people in my life at
just the right moments. I now have a
different perspective of difficulties and hardships.
These hardships in my life did not happen TO ME, they happened FOR ME! What others intended for my harm God intended
for good!
Jesus spent His very life
blood to rescue you. That is a rescue SO SURE that no hardship, adversity, shame
or evil will EVER be able to pluck you out of His hand. He has set you HIGH upon a ROCK!
“Many, Lord my God, are
the wonders You have done, the things You have planned for us.
None can compare with You! Were I to speak and tell of Your deeds, they
would be too many to declare!” Psalm 40:5
