Numbers 13:1-33
We give in to fear when
we say no to God. The twelve spies sent by Moses to scout the Promised Land and
report back their findings, were lacking faith. Ten of the twelve believed that
it all depended on them and forgot to give it all to God. They gave
in to fear and forgot their faith.

Kids and Families:
- Have you ever been afraid
of anything?
- What helped you get
through that?
- God
says, “Fear not, for I am with you.” How does God’s presence make us
braver?
For discussion and reflection:
- Read Numbers 13:17-33.
What did the spies see? What were they afraid of? Can you relate to those
fears?
- God called the Israelites
to the promised land. Our promised land is the New Creation, which we
experience now in part as life together in Christ. How is God calling you
to a next step of faith in Jesus?
- What fears hold you back
from following where Jesus leads?
- In
the sermon we learned that saying yes to fear means saying no to God. How
can you say yes to God and no to fear this week?
