Putting a point on the
theme of the book, Revelation asks, ‘Now that you know how the story ends, how
will you live?’ Verse 11 is especially pointed – letting us know that not
everyone will turn from sin and run toward Jesus. From the time this book was
written until today, some people have turned to Jesus and others turn away.
John’s writing challenges us to answer this question – which of these people
will we be?

REFLECTION
The Rubber Meets the Road
By Jennifer Jerrome
8… I fell down to
worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. 9 But he said
to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow
prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!”
Sometimes we mistakenly
worship the messenger and not the sender. Angels and prophets may serve as
great messengers, but John reminds us that we are called to be united in
worshiping God. God is the only one worthy of our praise.
11 Let the one who does
wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the
one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be
holy.
The time for second chances is over. It’s not our job to
condemn or judge the actions of others. We are to let people do what they will and
God will sort things out. That’s not to say we can’t serve as role models of
Christ-like behavior, but in the end, we can only control ourselves. Choosing between the vile and the holy is a
choice we all make. So, which will it be?
UALC’S CAMPAIGN OF PRAYER - FRIDAY
FAITH - Pray for faith instead of fear, that many would come to faith in Jesus and that we would all trust God more deeply during this time.
