Joshua 19:32-39

Naphtali was the second son of Jacob and Bilah (the handmaid of Rachel). The name Naphtali means "My struggle." Naphtali is noteworthy for a number of reasons, one of which is Jesus started His ministry in Naphtali, in the area of Galilee, and calls His first disciples from its shores (Matthew 4:13-22). When Jacob blesses his sons in Genesis 49, he describes Naphtali as a deer that has been set free. (Genesis 49:21).

Joshua 19:32-33 (NIV)

The sixth lot came out for Naphtali according to its clans: Their boundary went from Heleph and the large tree in Zaanannim, passing Adami Nekeb and Jabneel to Lakkum and ending at the Jordan.

Does your name have a special significance to your demeanor or stature? Perhaps it is a family name and tradition dictates a member of your family inherit it.  My name, Judith, was among the top 50 most popular given names for girls born in the United States between 1940 and 1960. Judith is Hebrew for "he will be praised," and is the female version of Judah.

A person's name held much significance in the early days.  Perhaps that is one reason we take so much time deciding what to name our children.  After all, we will carry this name with us for the rest of our lives.  People will associate our name with our personality; our strengths and weaknesses.  Our name is important to God and He has written it in The Lamb's Book of Life.

What's in a name, you ask?
