Jesus is speaking to his disciples. Those stunned followers He left behind. He had instructed them to wait for The Holy Spirit to come to them; to open their minds and hearts to all Jesus had taught.
These frightened followers were hiding from Jesus' killers. They were huddled together, still trying to make sense of all that had happened, when He appeared to them once more.
"You are witnesses of these things." (Luke 24:48)
Jesus was comforting His people, opening their minds to what was yet to come. He does the same thing for us today and every day. When we need direction, He is there. When we want someone to hold us tight during a storm, it is Jesus' love that will calm the forces of nature that threaten to engulf us. And He will take care of these things because of His great love.
What storm is raging in your life? What blizzard of burden are you currently navigating with Jesus as your pilot? Every day we encounter rough roads. Every day we have the Holy Spirit to call upon for wisdom. Jesus is just waiting to come alongside; to guide and defend us. Think about it, how many stories do we have to tell? How many times have we cried out in desperation and our prayer was answered?
Have you told the story yet? Have you been a witness to the light of Jesus? It is the trials of life that grow our faith, that strengthen us so we can tackle the next battering wind without being tossed about. The world needs to hear this and we need to say it. As Christ followers, we are witnesses of these things.
